Malwarebytes

False Positives

Every anti-malware program will eventually produce a false positive detection. A false positive occurs when an anti-malware product detects a file as malicious when in fact, it is legitimate. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware is not a perfect product and we try our best to prevent these false positives. In the event of a false positive, please proceed with the following before contacting us.

  1. Use a search engine to verify that others do not think the item is malicious.
  2. Once you are sure that Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware has detected a false positive with a legitimate application, it is time to let us know.
  3. Start Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware using the /developer command line. This is a crucial step as it will generate a developer's log where the false positive has occurred.
  4. Contact us and be sure to include a copy of this developer's log. It is crucial that we receive this log in order to analyze and resolve the issue quickly.
